I have been holding a lot in. A lot.
I have been trying to keep friendships, not make enemies, but still feeling this pull.
Like something is going on that is beyond what we think it is and I just can’t be silent anymore.
It’s time to move forward, move on, look deeper at what is really going on.
Here are the words to the spoken word piece I am sharing with you now.
I am tired.
Tired of what I’m seeing all around me.
Tired of feeling like I am mouthing the words but the sound isn’t traveling
The hearts are unstirred. It’s like no one is listening or no one can hear.
People walk around like the end is not near, but it is.
That’s the thing. I see sin in full swing.
It’s been on full display, not just here or there, but every single day.
It’s everywhere. I see people walking around like they are in a trance
Like they just do not care, they are just here by chance.
And isn’t that it? They believe there’s no Creator.
No God to decide what is good and right, no God of love who lives to fight for us.
Out of love. So much love He sent His son. To die in our place so that we would
Not face an eternity separated from God. Forever.
But it’s forgotten or ignored. It’s pushed to the side or what’s more?
It’s mocked and it’s scorned and we laugh and we hide from the voice
Of the Lord that is calling to us. Prodding us. Drawing us to be Holy like him.
We’re swayed by a whim. We can’t hear a thing past the noise of our phone
when it rings and our updates and emails and texts and calls…we are setting
ourselves up for a fall and we don’t even know.
And what’s become the standard of what’s true? Ourselves? Our opinions?
Whatever we do is ok? How is that? People change what the words mean and
That becomes fact? No, God’s Word is true. And that is literally that.
And nothing And no one can ever change that fact. But we continue going on
when we hear the latest tragic story we get caught up in the movement and give the people glory
based on color or gender or political stand, we take familiar verses
and suddenly don’t understand that we can’t pick and choose.
We can not refuse to see scripture as it’s written, not use it to fit our new views.
We change words to justify this new mission we’re fighting and we start to bend the truth
and soon we’re rewriting the words of God which is never ok. God’s Word is pure. It’s the light and the way.
But slowly, and subtly we are lulled into sleep. We start to go back on the promises we keep.
Church isn’t that important. It’s a nice sunny day and the kids have a party or a game or a play.
And what is church anyways? It’s not just a place! I can be the church anywhere and won’t God show grace
to his child who loves him and who tithes when he can? I mean really.
The times have changed now. We can just switch up the plan. I can watch it on facebook
while I’m home on my couch, not realizing I’m making it easier to opt out.
And I’m neglecting my gifts that were given for me to hand out. And our Bible time, it changes too.
We don’t memorize or study the words we don’t know and the terms that sound old.
We just change our translation or get a new book. we decide not to take the time to look
up the context in everything that we read. We pray in the car and we read on the run
and we do what we have to do to just get it done. We let the emotions of every new issue that comes up in the news
build our new passion. Our story. Our Views
It becomes our cause. We don’t bother taking the time just to pause. To pray. To seek wisdom
and make sure we start in the Word and then build our convictions while guarding our heart.
We are harming our bodies and living in fear of the world that we live in and one thing is clear.
We are missing the point. We are losing the fight. When we’re losing our brothers and Sisters in Christ
and all in the name of justice or safety. And let’s just be clear, we are being too hasty.
The real name is division, disunity, discord. And it’s sin. Plain and simple dressed up with fancy words.
We put doctors and stats over pastors and preachers and we forget that God gave them to us as His ordained teachers.
And the fear that is lingering around every corner? What is that? What’s the point? Can someone explain?
Don’t you know that if You live it’s for Christ but if You die then it’s gain? Let go of the fear and trust in his name!
We’re being lulled to sleep by the world we support. And we become passive with our views while the enemy distorts
the Truth. We are bowing to the culture instead of the King and I can not be silent because this is everything.
Church, it’s time to stand up to be bold and be wise, to open our doors stop believing the lies
of what threatens to harm us or give reason to quit. Because Jesus is our King and to him we submit.
Be vigilant, be willing, be ready to stand. Our king, he fights for us and he gives our commands.
The spirit given to us was not given for fear but of power and love thats what we hold near.
We won’t give an inch we won’t move at all for then the next step becomes easy and suddenly we fall
and it spirals further down until we don’t know how to get back. And that’s where the enemy always threatens to attack.
The world needs answers, needs healing and hope. And we’re too busy distancing trying to cope
with our own little issues that take up all our time. That we miss every sign.
It is healing they crave and we stand here in silence but with answers of a God who can save.
I don’t care if I’m tired or if I feel weak. There is no time for quitting. We have got to speak.
Oh church we need you now to move on from the past. To march on together the rewards are unsurpassed.
The end is nearer than you think and our time is running out so there’s no time to shrink back in retreat
and to doubt. There’s a war going on and a battle that’s raging and we can not start engaging with the enemy.
We begin by making changes that start in our heart. We repent of our pride of the sin that had its start in us.
In our attitudes in our actions. Then we throw aside the hindrances, our sin, our distractions
that keep us from holiness and unity and peace. Then we pass it on to our families and divisions will cease.
And we become an army sold out to our Lord pure and holy before him holding on to our sword.
We are ready for battle and nothing will stop us from changing the world with the love poured out on us.
Yes church, are you listening? Are you in or are you out?
It’s not issues by man, that’s not what this is about.
It’s a battle between what’s evil or right. And I need to know if I can count on you to fight.
With me. For me. Fight the good fight of faith, hold on to each other as we look to our God see his face
and press on. Never wavering or looking aside. The time is now. It’s time to decide. If you’re standing with God,
if you’re willing to die. For your faith. For your Savior.
For the cause of the Cross. Let’s wake up and be doing and go reach the lost.
